On June 17th, 2024, Kroma, a Gaming focused Layer 2 blockchain, joined the Superchain. This is a significant milestone in their mission to becoming Asia's leading game centric blockchain ecosystem. Kroma is built using the OP Stack, but modifications have been made to the standard OP Stack codebase to add additional features, such as ZK proofs. The security of Kroma differs from other chains that use the standard version of the OP Stack codebase.
Kroma has set in motion a series of initiatives that are reshaping its ecosystem. The Kroma Foundation Grant program is a year-round operation that supports the development of game DApps on Kroma. This program is not just about financial aid but about identifying and nurturing DApps that have the potential to accelerate the gaming landscape, drive the next-generation of gamers, and expand the Kroma user community and ecosystem.
Kroma will also be introducing Native Account Abstraction (AA). Native AA will enhance the user experience in Web3 gaming by allowing gas fee payments via Paymaster and providing familiar methods like social log-ins. Seamless onchain transactions and bundled executions will let users focus on gameplay without needing single transaction confirmations. Kroma aims to shift its strategy from building using the OP stack to also directly contributing to the open source OP stack
In Q3, Kroma has laid out a roadmap that includes several key milestones. One of the primary highlights is the Token Generation Event (TGE), where $KRO will be officially launched. The TGE is expected to bolster the ecosystem by enabling transactions and interactions within the network, setting the stage for further development and engagement.
Additionally, Kroma plans to introduce a revised Validator Network featuring $KRO. This update aims to enhance network security and efficiency by leveraging the native token for validator incentives and rewards. Another significant initiative is the launch of the Kroma Guardian House, a framework designed to support and safeguard the network's operations.
