Yesterday, on February 27th, 2024, Lisk launched its Sepolia Testnet, marking a significant step in Lisk's transition to becoming a Superchain builder and merging into the Ethereum ecosystem.
The Lisk Testnet, developed in collaboration with Gelato, features an initial set of Integrations and Developer Tools, including Superchain Faucet, an initial Lisk Bridge, an Explorer by BlockScout, Price Feeds by Redstone Oracle, and an array of additional services including Account Abstraction and VRF Randomness by the Gelato suite. From L1 to Superchain
Since 2016, Lisk has been developing its scalable and developer-friendly Blockchain to democratize blockchain accessibility. Despite initial traction, building up an L1 ecosystem proved challenging and limited Lisk's ability to accomplish its goal. As such, the leadership team looked into the potential of leveraging the growing Ethereum L2 space and, after extensive research and debate, concluded that migrating Lisk to the Ethereum ecosystem as a Superchain L2 would accelerate Lisk's overarching mission.
Spearheaded by the Onchain Foundation (formerly Lisk Foundation), Lisk is now on a journey to merge into the Superchain and launch its own OP Chain. Its Developer Testnet is anticipated to launch in Q2 of this year, followed by its mainnet a couple of months later. Lisk will continue to focus on solving local problems in Emerging Markets by bringing solutions around real-world assets (RWA), off-chain assets (OCA), and decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN) onchain.
