Welcome to Superchain Sunday - our weekly newsletter! Every Sunday, we will provide you with the latest news and updates in the world of the Superchain.
The OP Stack accounts for over 57.8% of all Layer 2 transactions. The Superchain sees 11.5M daily transactions, 53.5% of all Layer 2 transactions. The network boasts 749 Unique Apps, contributing to the Optimism Collective. It is estimated that 57.5 ETH will be contributed to the Optimism Collective in April. Superseed has officially launched its mainnet, joining the Superchain ecosystem as a general-purpose Layer 2 built on the OP Stack. The chain introduces new DeFi primitives like SuperCDP, Supercollateral, and Proof-of-Repayment, designed to lower borrowing costs and return value to users. Instead of charging interest, Superseed repays loans over time using protocol fees and rewards distributed through a daily auction.
The launch includes a full suite of live DeFi applications, including Velodrome, Stryke, BulletX, JonesDAO, Dolomite, and more. These protocols are integrated with Superseed’s lending system, forming a foundation for capital-efficient strategies. Superseed’s mainnet follows the successful Supersale, a community-first token launch with no vesting and fair pricing. With its launch, Superseed adds momentum to the growing Superchain. Builder Rewards is now live on Base, offering weekly ETH payouts to the most impactful onchain developers. Powered by Talent Protocol and sponsored by Base, this initiative automatically tracks and rewards builders based on their verified contributions and no applications or manual submissions are required. Cyber is celebrating Earth Month with a community challenge inviting users to commit to at least one Earth-friendly action each week leading up to Earth Day. Anyone can join by staking 0.0008 ETH, which is fully refundable upon completing the challenge. Participants share their actions, like picking up litter, composting, or using public transit, on social media and tag @BuildOnCyber. The goal is to make small climate-positive choices visible and collective.
A reward pool of over 11,500 CYBER tokens will be distributed among participants who complete the challenge. Top contributors will also be eligible for bonus "Earthlings' Choice" prizes, including a 900 CYBER grand prize. Verification opens on April 20, and all efforts must be documented in a single social media thread. Join the commitment here.
The Great Celo Halvening has officially arrived, following unanimous community approval of CGP-169. This major tokenomics update reduces CELO inflation from 2% to approximately 1%, introduces a 1 billion hard cap on supply, and strengthens Celo’s long-term sustainability as it evolves into an Ethereum Layer 2 built on the OP Stack.
Key changes include new incentives across the ecosystem: validator rewards now shift to $30K annually in cUSD for RPC uptime and performance, and staking rewards are set between 1.8–2%, depending on market dynamics. Transaction fee allocations have also been adjusted with 90% now funds network operations, while 10% continues to support carbon offset efforts through Ultragreen Money. Read the full details here.
Optimism has announced the results of its latest Retro Funding round, allocating over 2 million OP to support dev tooling and onchain builders across the Superchain. These rewards recognize projects powering key infrastructure and driving user activity not only on OP Chains, but across the broader Ethereum ecosystem.
Winners include both core developer tools that support apps across chains and onchain builders creating real impact through user engagement and transaction volume. If you missed this round, applications are still open to claim part of the 14 million OP remaining this season. If you're building on the Superchain, now’s the time to apply for Retro Funding.
The Superchain has grown to 30 different OP Chains, each with its flourishing Ecosystem. These are some extra stories to make your Sunday that much more Super.
